I just discovered this really neat toy. Now all I have to do is figure out how to put it on a sled. This link has some really nice videos.

General Winter Camping Discussion / Canvas tent Storage
« on: March 21, 2009, 05:34:21 am »
I am getting set to put my cotton canvas tent away for the summer. My question is how would I store it for extended periods of time? The tent is made of 10.10oz army duck. Ideally I would think you would hang it or loosely store it loosely somewhere much like what I do with my goose down sleeping bag. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

General Winter Camping Discussion / Do I Need a Life?
« on: February 25, 2009, 06:38:36 am »
I was trying to figure out a topic to deal with some anxiety that I am having. I recently came back from the Midwest Traditional Winter Camping Rendezvous held in Northern Wisconsin. Being around like minded people and sleeping better than I do at home was so much fun. But since I am having so much difficulty in trying to convince people the joys of camping in the winter I now dread the coming of spring. People around me simply cannot believe  and cannot appreciate that camping in the dead of winter can be fun.

Now that spring is right around the corner I simply dread the idea of trying to find a quite spot to experience the great outdoors. I love to camp. I have always loved to camp. Camping in the winter was something I never really thought of. In my mind to experience nature in the winter was either snowshoeing or skiing in the local parks. I always looked toward the warm days of spring and summer so I could go camping. That is not the case anymore. Thanks for people Like Rhonda, aka miss mousie, Duane of snowtrekker tents, Dale and all the others on this site I have come to enjoy winter more than ever, THANKS.

I live in the Milwaukee metro area. In todays paper they have an article about a local that is trekking pole to pole on skis pulling a sled. I thought the photos and article would be interesting to others on this site. You can find it at
