Trip Reports / Two Videos of Deep Freeze 2011
« on: March 08, 2011, 02:32:22 pm »
I whipped together two videos of CCR's Deep Freeze 2011.  Not really a trip report per se, no music or narrative.  But I think it might make you feel like you were there?  If not Marc's dancing will be sure to make you laugh!

Not sure how to put the actual video here, but I think the links work?  Enjoy, (I hope).

This is a quote from another forum (same Web Masters as here I believe?)  So I hope I can copy and paste it here (?)  Because I think it's applicable in this forum as well, with regards to winter water safety.  It was stated that  "The water is below freezing, only liquid because it's moving..."

I have wondered about his for a while, because I keep hearing people saying it.  But I am confused, as I ain't no scientist.  It's my understanding that this is a physics impossibility - unless the water is mixed with something like salt, or an antifreeze substance to lower it's freezing point?? Otherwise even moving water does freeze, just look at any water fall (even Niagara Falls freezes at some point).

I have tried an internet search without any conclusive explanation to this phenomenon, or question. Any takers to explain this to me?
