Mountains of Northern CA
« on: November 25, 2010, 12:09:30 AM »
Hi, greetings from a fast approaching codgerdom dude.  While I was off camping close to the coast last weekend, we received 18" of snow then another 4" Sunday night.  Down to the single digits early this year for Thanksgiving day.  I live two hours north of Lake Tahoe and an hour south of Lassen Volcanic National Park.  Happy Thanksgiving to all in the USA!

I work out of town, so I hear the news out of Reno.  Since late Oct., up to 20 feet of snow has fallen in the higher elevations.  One of the ski areas around Lake Tahoe is rated second or third most snow in the world at the moment, other resorts are in the top ten.  More coming by this weekend.  Merry Christmas.

Some ski areas are giving a half day of free skiing if you show your airline boarding pass from having flown into the area.  Not sure how long that lasts, may be just for the Christmas weekend.
