Anybody know current conditions for lake travel 2/4/11
« on: February 04, 2011, 10:32:59 am »
Heading into East Bearskin or Clearwater Tuesday of next week and was wondering what the current lake/ice/slush conditions are if anybody has been trekking in that part of the BWCA.

Thanks,
CC

Got back from a trip to EP #68 Pine lake (off McFarland) a little over a week ago.

We talked to the ranger at the Gunflint ranger station and they said they had no reports of slush in that or surrounding area.  I can confirm that we encountered ZERO slush on either McFarland or anywhere we went on Pine.  Roughly 20+ inches of ice on Pine.

Thanks for the update TB, I am pumped! Should be a great trip. I really should be packing but I am hanging at my inlaws right now with the kids playing on the iPad.
