height of front curl
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:31:41 am »
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on the height of the front curl of a toboggan? Traditionally you see some that are about a foot high. Does it matter as long as it keeps the toboggan from submarining into the snow? less curl means more area on the toboggan for gear, how much of an advantage is this if any?

For me, I keep a day pack ( outside of the tank or wrap) tucked into the curl with a snack and a thermos, extra mitts, 1st aid kit, things like that. Everyone knows where it is, it can be pulled out quickly when stopping for a break or leaving the trail for a little exploring or reconnoitering a potential camp site etc.

What does everyone think?
