I know some guys from the Ganaraska Tril did a winter camp in their last weekend or the weekend before. I believe the snow was decent but not sure If they used their snowshoes all the time. I'll go back to FB and see If I can find some of their pics.

Just got home from Algonquin and there is over 3' there.

I went and checked out their pics. They are all wearing snowshoes and in one pic they have a pit dug in the snow and there is two feet.

I made it in to Sheldon Lake today. We went in on ski doo. Lots of ice, 18'' or so, and enough snow to get around on. Maybe 2' in the bush. We caught some lake trout.

Great. What trial do you take in. I have a sled too. Wouldn't mind doing some camping back there off my sled.

I go in off Devils Lake. Hwy 35 turn left on Deep Bay Rd. Then left on Devils Lake Rd. Lots of room to park. You will see all the sled tracks heading out, just follow them. You will go about 1.5km and you will go to your left around a point. The portage is right in that little bay. There is an old Unimog truck on your right side the trail is right beside it. Just follow it in to Sheldon Lake.. It is a nice little ride in. I am going to try to go again this weekend.

I hope to try a dry run in to sheldon on Wed. Was the parking just at the side of the road or is there a boat launch you parked at?

When you turn onto Devils Lake Rd. The road ends at the lake, and there is a boat launch. There is lots of parking. I wish I was going, have to work. Good luck.

Thanks for all the directions. What a great day exploring. I went for Devil's Lk to Sheldon. Picked out some camping spots. On to Coony lk, Victoria lk, Wolf lk.From there I went down to Smudge lk and over to crooked lk. Almost made it down to Fishog lk and not far from Head. Hard to find some good spots for camping since alot of these lakes have high rock shorelines. Talked to some locals about species in some of the lakes. They were very helpful. The conditions changed as I was there with the + 12C temps and sun. I'll be spending a week back there next season camping once the ice is in. Sheldon is a short walk and the trial is probally always broken.

Very cool. You covered a lot of ground. I was hoping to go to Sheldon on Sunday, but I think I got hooped by the weather.

As you can see the creeks were opening up big time by the end of the day. We'll be in there for a week next winter. We'll probabally hit a few of the lakes.
