Echo Trail (BWCA) Conditions
« on: January 15, 2013, 12:26:10 pm »
Hello all,

a big group of us are headed up the BWCA for a long weekend. The plan is Wood Lake but I wanted to check if anyone has been out on that initial portage trail and knows what condition it's in. If there isn't a lot of snow for the portage I may have to reconsider entry points. If anyone has any ideas of alternates in the Ely area chime in. Thanks!

I have no recent firsthand knowledge & maybe you already have checked this resource?  But, here is a link to the MN DNR's snow depth & trail conditions report.  http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/snow_depth/index.html

I believe it gets updated weekly.

Thanks, I took a look at that, but it's really just trail and conditions, not really the first hand observation I need with snow depth as minimal as it is.
