Leather ski boot with BC NNN binding-anybody know of any?
« on: March 11, 2014, 12:07:21 pm »
Sure would like to find one in a size 44. Had a pair of Alpina's leaather and they were the best boot available. No longer sold in the U.S.. Available in Canada? Still made in Europe I think?  Other leather boot or a good waterproof boot. Trouble with maybe a all synthetic waterproof boot-maybe sweat too much. Any help out there. Was out in a Fishcher BC boot yesterday and went thru water and the water came in like a seive.

Wow,no suggestions, how about a waterproof ski boot? It is no fun getting a wet foot when in the back country.

I think you are mistaken. At this point in the season they might be out of some, or most of the sizes and/or models , but Alpina boots are still widely available in the states. I'm sure by next season you will be able to find what you want quite easily.

It was I think the main Alpina dealership told me a couple of the leather boots they don't carry in the U.S. anymore. Like you said it is the end of the season and my old boots will last to the end of this year-they half to. So I will just keep looking .Thanks.
I did try a fisher model, that got wet real fast and had a wool lining you could not take out. So it takes two days to dry it.
My old alpina leather has no lining, but if it gets wet dries fast and I can always put a wool sock on.

Well 6 months later and I found a leather boot to my liking. Ordered from France(a first for me ordering over seas. Things went good.

Hi Moosehead,

If you end up looking again in the future look at the Alpina Alaska NNNBC (currently the best backcountry NNNBC boot I have ever tried).

The Alpina BC1600 is a less expensive alternative...looking at these for my oldest son...his feet are about to outgrow mine!

Great that you found what you are looking for. I was lucky to many years ago, i got a pair of Alico double leather boots 3pins. That are so good!! When they give up on me I will go with a pair of Garmond(now own by Scott) Excursion. They are super light weight double boots. I like double boots cause they are warmer and that you can put the liner inside your sleeping bag to dry and keep them warm on multi day trips cold camping...

Just before Christmas I bought a pair of Lundhags (Swedish) X-Arc
NNN-BC boots (not leather) for $99 US + shipping from NordicSkater
in Vermont
  http://www.nordicskater.com/lundhags/index.html

(The listed price seems to have gone up after Christmas.)

That seemed like a good deal since they seem to be selling for over
150 Euros in Europe.

These must be old stock. Lundhags has some newer (and pricier) leather
NNN-BC boots on their website (the "Tour Skate", and "Guide BC" boots)

http://shop.lundhags.se/boots/

Lundhags NNN-BC seem to the most popular boots for Swedish long-distance
skaters.

My old NNN-BC boots are Rossignol BC-X2. (bought at Halifax Trail Shop
3 years old) The cloth loops for the laces were breaking and the
stitching was coming unravelled too. I took them to a leather repairman .
He restitched them and put in metal eyelets for the laces, so I now have
2 pairs to use. My Lundhags weigh 830 gm (each) vs 650 gm for the Rossi.

For about 10 years I used NNN (non-BC) leather Alfa boots which I
bought in Norway.I really liked them. I see that Alfa is making leather
NNN-BC "Skarvet" boots (over 300 Euros!) This place rents the Alfa
Skarvet (and other brands) so they must be sold somewhere in the US:
