Ski Poles

 Santa came through with a pair of Altai skis for me and as I start to use them I think I could do better with a pair of back country ski poles. The little research I've done has me leaning towards the Black Diamond traverse poles. What does everyone else use.

I use my normal downhill poles I just put bigger baskets on.  I've never liked the adjustable ones.  My friend wraps some duct tape around the pole to create a second grip lower down for ascent.  Comes through as an emergency supply if needed.

I really like using the "Tiak" pole with mine. For how I skis the pole gives me more control and is stronger than any ski poles (I've bent a couple of pair; I'm a hefty 235#'s). You can put your full weight on the pole and it not break. You could probably cut your own pole locally.
