Lake One Entry Boundary Waters Canoe Area
« on: December 18, 2016, 04:56:25 PM »
Ever use this entry point? What are the typical ice conditions? There seems to be a lot of moving water and am concerned about how it affects the ice.

Thanks for any information.

I have not gone in on lake pone entry, but ice conditions vary annually. I've been in touch with friends up there and as of last week there was 3-5 inches; however, there was a snow machine on Fall lake today viewed via webcam and tracks on Shagawa too.

Moving water when the water is deep isn't as fussy as shallows or where a river narrows, but I never trust any ice without checking EVERY STEP. I then retrace on my way back. I've fished and watched ice freeze in my area for at least 40 of my 56 years and have not gone through the ice. (knocking on wood" as pride goeth before a fall.) Redrock Store on the Fernberg can tell you current conditions also. Any local intel is better that any advice on the net. ;)
