My Two Back Country ski solutions

1. 215 cm. Asnes Combi Combat white (natch) NorwegianArmy skis with full metal edges -> for flat to rolling terrain

2. 190 cm. Atomic TM22 telemark skis -> for mountainous terrain

Both skis have heavy duty 3 pin 75 mm bindings mounted on Voile' releasable binding plates and Voile' cable bindings as well. As a former Nordic and Alpine ski patroller I've seen enough accidents to know I need release bindings.

I use climbing skins on both pair of skis for tough terrain. Wax or endless herringboning just can't cut it when hauling a sled or heavy winter backpack uphill. And snowshoes are FAR too [email protected] much work. Yes, I do have a nice pair of 30" MSR Lightning Ascent 'shoes W/ extended tails, but only for hunting in mountains.
