Sled trains Best joining method ?
« on: February 05, 2018, 03:02:53 am »
When I set-up my winter base camp I need a lot of gear and because I need a basic and fairly small sled for day to day use I have been using 1 or 2 smaller plastic sleds in tandem behind my Paris Expedition giving me a train of up to 3 sleds.
When skiing down hills I have been getting a lot of whip and on some slopes and curves I have the tail wagging the dog and it is hard to carve a reasonable turn and I sometimes suffer an embarrassing and possible dangerous fall.
I need to do much better this winter and I need something with much more control than 3 bits of cord in an "X" and some bits of plastic conduit
Main sled is the Paris Expedition sled and the puppies are Paris Snow Snakes about half the size
Making a new hauling harness for this season and I'll be using crossed 10mm  FG wands about 2100 long to clear my ski ends.
I'm hoping to get my load well down from the 135 kilos of a few years ago that needed me to play leapfrog of 2 klick stages
