Pictured Rocks question
« on: March 14, 2018, 04:27:05 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has camped at Pictured Rocks in Michigan's UP?  If so where did you park and how far do you have to pull in equipment?  Is there camping permitted in the woods so you can harvest some dead wood for the stove?  Thanks

I hiked the North Country Trail thru Pictured Rocks a couple of years ago.  There was still snow in some areas in mid-May.

Here is a link with some useful information and additional links... only one short paragraph at the end about winter access.

Hope this helps you get started.  A call to the Park Service would be a good idea.

Thanks I will check out that link.  I've been looking at Beaver Basin where possibly one could pull down unplowed roads to get to wooded areas.  Only a few miles from the shoreline then.  Parking is the problem but I am going to call the park so hopefully they can help.
