Ransom and photobucket
« on: April 18, 2018, 03:01:25 pm »

I just cut and pasted this from Bushcraft USA I think it works I can now see all old posted pix

There are Free Add-Ons available for both Chrome and Firefox, which will let you choose to see the original photo instead of the "ransom block" image, throughout the Internet.

For Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... aedg?hl=en

Then search for PHOTOBUCKET

for Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/

With this, you can see everyone's old photobucket images in context on every thread and every website.

Wow, this actually works! I added the extension and now I can see all my old photos on this site! And those of everyone else, as far as I can tell.

Why would photobucket allow this to exist?

Oh well, it works for now. Thanks.

Kinguq.

I would be very careful with this.  When I had a look at it, it asked for permission to access all my info.  I clicked cancel.

Yep, looks like it works. If you use Firefox just click on the settings menu icon at the top right of the browser bar and select add-ons to search for the fix.

Glad I didn't pay Photobucket $400!

you can install it and then turn on and off as desired. It's really only useful to look back through old threads so no need to have it running all the time.

It may not be an issue, I'm sure there are folks who know about these could look at the discussion on how this code was developed, it seems to be all open access, and tell us more. The biggest threat would likely be that someone else hacks into into it and uses it as a gateway I suppose.
