Toboggan Warranty
« on: October 04, 2018, 12:28:12 PM »
We've quietly replaced a few broken toboggans over the past few years, and I've recently decided if we're going to have a great replacement policy we may as well make a little bit of noise about it, so here goes!

We are now warrantying all HDPE toboggan plastic for 3 years, and all UHMW-PE plastic for 7 long years! That's right, your new toboggan could have a longer warranty than your new truck!

Warranty details are here:
https://lureofthenorth.com/toboggan-selection-warranties/#warranty

And toboggans and accessories are here:
https://lureofthenorth.com/shop/product-category/equipment/tobs/

We're just wrapping up getting all toboggan components ready for the season and will be shipping en masse in the next two weeks or so, so now is a great time to get your order in for the coming season!

I really wonder how folk mange to break a plastic toboggan. I have put mine to so much abuse over the years and suffered no more than a haul line snapping when I sunk into a slush pocket and the toboggan was covered with ice at -27 C.

Did break a wooden one once. We let it run down hill and it left the trail and hit a tree, broke the curl.

I would want a pretty good tale and lots of pictures to know they hadn't been engaged in severe gear abuse!

We've had 6 over the years that I can think of: 2 of our own on trip, plus 4 customer's.  All HDPE. 3 of those customers were all purchased around the same time, so I speculated those may have came from the same sheet of plastic and it had a defect perhaps during annealing.  It can happen.  Six over the course of about a decade of using and selling toboggans isn't a huge percentage, but we figure its good peace of mind to offer to folks that if it does happen to them they don't have to worry about it.

I think a lot of our customers have a good sense that we're a small company, so I'm not anticipating any abusers.

I think the Haul line was my fault - didn't know my own strength!

Awesome! Way to put it out there Dave.

Simplicity in all things is the secret of the wilderness and one of its most valuable lessons. It is what we leave behind that is important. I think the matter of simplicity goes further than just food, equipment, and unnecessary gadgets; it goes into the matter of thoughts and objectives as well. When in the wilds, we must not carry our problems with us or the joy is lost.

All those years hauling that load of gear. You don't know your own strength. When we get around to testing toboggans we're going to get you to haul the load!

Got a afternoon free to put all the pieces together and here we go...
Working off Dave's build video made it all very very easy peasy..no reason not to put in some sweat equity.
And today we got are first 4" snowfall though temps are staying at the freeze mark and no 'cold' in the forecast...
Over the Christmas holidays will have to get out for a night or 2 under the stars
