While I have never seen it done I see no reason why you couldn't make a take down handle for a grain shovel.

I've done that and it works, but it isn't great and the reason is the one I had the part that goes around the shaft wasn't weld shut at the seam(most o them are like that actually) and then the connection is really weak, so they start to get really wobbly and a pain to use. But it is feasible... Also the aluminum is really of poor quality(soft). And they sell for about $ 30-40 canadian up here!

I'll have to take a closer look next time I see them. Been so long since I shoveled snow with one I can't remember
